An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday sentenced Seth
Mensah, a 24-year-old mechanic, to seven years imprisonment for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Mensah pleaded guilty to defilement saying "I did defile the victim but I am praying the court to forgive me and have mercy on me".
Prosecuting, Police Inspector I.A.A. Ahor told the court presided over by Mrs Georgina Mensah-Datsa, that complainant was the victim's father.
He said the victim and Mensah lived at Abossey Okai, an Accra suburb.
On July 9 and a about 2100 hours Mensah invited the victim to his room to watch television and sexually abused her and warned her not to inform her parents.
The father, who was looking for her went and knocked at the door of Mensah but he denied that the victim was in his room.
Not satisfied, he returned and when Mensah opened his door, he saw his daughter in Mensah's chamber.
A report was made to the Odorkor Police and the matter was refereed to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).
DOVVSU issued a medical form to the victim for medical examination, and when Mensah was arrested, admitted the offence in his cautioned statement.
