The Ghana Education Service has distributed 99,127 exercise books to basic school children in the Kwahu South District under the government's free exercise books programme.
Children in upper primary received five exercise books each while Junior High School children in Forms I and II received 13 exercise books each.
The District Director of Education, Mr Abraham Adjetey Sowah, said 488 sown school uniforms and 1442 unsown school uniforms had been received for distribution to needy school children in deprived communities in the district.
Mr Sowah said the government was constructing a girls' dormitory for the Kwahu-Ridge Senior High Secondary and Technical School at Obo and Mpraeso Senior High School.
He said the government was also constructing a 12-unit classroom block for the St. Paul's Senior High School at Asakraka and another 18-unit
classroom block for St Peters' Senior High School at Nkwatia.
Mr Sowah said the government was building similar classroom blocks in all second cycle institutions in the district to create room for first year students this academic year.
