Mr Kwesi Ofei Ofosu-Apea, Director of RIIS Memorial School, has stressed the need for the elderly in society to instil moral and social values into the youth.
He said the youth were at the threshold of a challenging future and efforts must be made to shape their conduct to enable them to become
responsible adults.
Mr Ofosu-Apea made the call after leading pupils of the school in a procession through the principal streets of Dansoman, an Accra suburb on
Wednesday as part of activities marking the schools 25th anniversary celebration.
The celebration under the theme: "The Youth at the Threshold of a Very Challenging Future".
The procession began from the school's premises near Dansoman Health Post through the Russia road and Dansoman Highway to Dansoman Roundabout to the school.
The pupils cleaned chocked gutters and collected refuse to ensure free-flow of water and improve hygiene in the environment.
Mr. Ofosu-Apea said some parents spend less time at home because they are always busy looking for money, affecting the upbringing of their
children.
Other activities lined up for the celebration were literary/arts festival, home coming/family day, social responsibility/clean-up exercise,
career guidance day, medical screening/blood donation, founders' durbar/graduation and thanksgiving service.
