Mr. Alex Asum-Ahensah, Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture on Saturday, joined the bereaved family and people of Zini to perform the final funeral rites of the late Zini Kuoro, Kuoro Doctorwie Niinia IV, Paramount Chief of the Zini Traditional Area.
Mr. Asum-Ahensah, who led government delegation to Zini, conveyed words of condolence from President John Atta Mills to the bereaved family and the people of Zini/Buwa Traditional Council.
He described the Kuoro Doctorwie Niinia IV as an achiever and someone committed to the development of his traditional area in particular and the country as a whole.
He said the most valuable asset that the people of Zini/Buwa Traditional Council would inherit from the Kuoro Niinia was his great love
for peace.
Mr. Alex Asum-Ahensah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Jaman North, prayed that God should give him a resting place in his kingdom.
The Chieftaincy Minister urged the people of the area to do Kuoro Niinia the needed honour by peacefully choosing his successor according to
the customs and traditions.
Kuoro Niinia was born on January 29, 1951, and was enskined as the Paramount Chief of the Zini Traditional Area on May 2, 1990.
He became a member of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs on November 11, 1993, and was one time Vice President of the House. He also served in several committees.
Kuoro Niinia until his death on May 14, 2010, at the Tumu District Hospital, was the President of the Zini Traditional Council, and a Registrar at the Tumu Circuit Court. He left behind a wife and five children.
In a tribute, Naa S. D. Gore II, Paramount Chief of the Dorimon Traditional Area and President of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs, referred to the Kuoro Niinia as not only a regional asset, but also a national asset, as he also served in the judicial committee of the National House of Chiefs.
Kuoro Barecheh Nlowie Baninye II, Niator Divisional Chief and acting President of the Zini Traditional Council, described the late Chief as a development oriented person, who championed the development course of the area with serious commitment.
He mentioned the Zini clinic and rural electrification projects in the area as some of the projects he championed.
Present at the funeral were Naa Seidu Braimah, a Member of the Council of State, Mr. Cezar Kale, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, as well as paramount and divisional chiefs across the region.
Mr. Asum-Ahensah on behalf of government donated six bags of rice, ten cartons of assorted soft drinks, and a carton of schnapps to the bereaved family. An amount of GH�1,000.00 was also given to the family.
The Upper West Regional House of Chiefs presented one calabash of cola nuts, two bottles of schnapps, and a cash amount of GH�100,00 to the family, while the National House of Chiefs made a cash donation of GH�200.00 and two bottles of Schnapps .
The Upper West Regional Coordinating Council also made a cash donation of GH�1,000.00, while some individual donations were made for the upkeep of the children of Kuoro Niinia.
