The Kumasi Circuit Court 1, presided over by Mr
Justice Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey, has remanded a 26-year old trader standing trial for defilement in prison custody for two weeks.
Kwabena Mensah pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court that the incident happened on April 25, at about 2100 hours.
The 14 year old victim was returning to the house after she had gone to sell sachet water, when Mensah lured her into a kiosk at the Kumasi
Railways Station and sexually assaulted her.
The prosecution said Mensah sent the girl away after the act with GH¢1.00.
The victim informed her mother when she got home and a formal report was made to the police Domestic Violence Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Manhyia.
Police Chief Inspector Baffour-Kyei said a signed medical report by doctors, who treated the girl, confirmed that she had been defiled.
Mensah in his caution statement said the victim consented to having sex with him.
