Alex Moro, unemployed, who demolished a bathhouse, a property of an adjoining landlord, the complainant, has appeared before a circuit court, presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah, at Akim
Swedru in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region.
Moro, 35, pleaded not guilty for causing unlawful damage. The court admitted him to a bail in the sum of GH¢500.00 with one surety.
He would also report to the Akim Oda Police daily until he reappears in court on May 19.
Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah said both the complainant, Mr Adamu Salifu, unemployed and the accused lived close to each other at Akim
Oda and that there had been a misunderstanding between them over where Mr Salifu had constructed his bathhouse.
He said sometime in 2009, Moro went to Mr Salifu and told him that he was not supposed to build the bathhouse at where it was and therefore razed it to the ground.
The complainant reported the matter to the police and Moro was arrested and put before court.
Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said the family of the accused pleaded with the court to allow the case to be settled out of court, which the court
upheld and the matter was settled peacefully.
He said Mr Salifu re-build the bathhouse at the cost of GH¢500.00, but Moro demolished it again, warning the complainant that he would destroy any structure he (complainant) puts up.
The case was reported to the police again and the accused was arrested.
