Ghana Cement (GHACEM), a major cement producing company, on Tuesday presented 1,540 bags of cement to sixteen communities in the Volta Region to support their development.
The cements valued at 72.3 million cedis, were to be used to complete health and school projects in the selected communities.
The beneficiary communities included Sogakope, Denu, Abutia, Golokwati and Likpe. Each of them received 100 bags of cement.
Mr Wilson Gborgbowor, Volta Regional Centre Supervisor of GHACEM, who made the presentation at Hohoe said the gesture was the company's contribution towards the development of needy communities.
He said GHACEM has for the past three years donated 8,000 bags of cement to several communities in the Volta Region alone.
Mr Gborgbowor advised the recipients to use the cement solely for the purpose for which it was donated to enable other communities to benefit from the company social programme.
He said the company also set up a computer centre in Accra to introduce under-privileged children to computer use.
