The Kwahu West Municipal Director of Education, Mr Noah Dwamena, has urged parents to take keen interest in the education of their children, especially the girl child, to reduce the high rate of school drop outs among young girls in the municipality.
He advised that girls who get pregnant while in school should be encouraged to continue their education after delivery.
Mr Dwamena gave the advice when members of the Diamond Ladies Club, a benevolent ladies association at Nkawkaw, presented 900 assorted books and cups worth about GHC 800 to two basic schools at Nsabaah and Monsie, both in the municipality.
He said with the world becoming a global village, the youth would not be able to get gainful employment in the formal sector without higher education.
