Rotary Club of Lagos on Friday donated items worth GH¢3,000 to Assurance of Hope for the Needy Orphanage at a ceremony in Accra.
The items included foodstuffs, detergents, mosquito nets and bed sheets.
Presenting the items Mr Bruce Ovibiagele, President of the Club, noted that the donation formed part of the cardinal principles of the body in their bid to serve humanity.
Mr Oviagele recalled that his club had provided services such as career
counselling to schools and sinking of boreholes, among other interventions, to communities in Nigeria and thought it wise to lend a hand to motherless children in Ghana.
Pastor Enoch Y. Mensah, Proprietor of the orphanage, said the home had 38 inmates with ages ranging from 18 months to 14 years.
Pastor Mensah, who is also a contractor, said he funded the home jointly with his wife from their incomes and appealed to other donors to come to their aid.
He said the home was faced with funding and inadequate housing problems.
He said the home was currently based in a rented apartment and struggling to pay their rent.
According to him the home did not have electricity and was relying on lanterns and rechargeable lamps.
