Turkish police arrested 13 suspected members of the Islamic fundamentalist group al-Qaida in an operation in the Turkish capital Ankara on Tuesday, the semi- official Anatolia news agency reported.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided seven houses in three different districts of Ankara and detained 13 people, one of whom was allegedly the head of the network in Turkey, the agency reported.
A Kalashnikov rifle, three blank firing guns as well as devices to make explosives and fake ID cards and passports were found in the suspects' rooms, said the report.
Several camouflage smocks and medical equipment, which officials said were meant to be sent to Afghanistan, were also seized in the raids.
The operation followed the arrest of 11 al-Qaida suspects in Ankara on Monday, according to the report.
It added that another 20 people had been arrested in anti-Qaida raids in the southern province of Adana earlier this week.
