Popular Ghanaian actress and producer, Kafui Danku believes that an NDC win in the December 7, 2024, election will be a game-changer for the Ghanaian film industry.
In a conversation with Doreen Avio on Hitz FM recently, Kafui, who professes to be a staunch member of the opposition NDC highlighted the industry's struggles, which she says have been ongoing for some time.
Nevertheless, she is confident that the NDC's leadership will address these challenges and usher in a new era of growth and success for Ghanaian cinema.
“Funding and distribution have always been a challenge but it has gotten worse; it has declined some more and I was hoping it will be better but if we all stop putting in effort or kill our passions it's never going to get any better, so let's just get back to work, still do our part and try to maybe step or do something different and see if something different will happen.
“I'm still hopeful that it can get better especially when my party wins. When NDC is back in power it will get better," she stated.
The mother of two has placed her trust in John Dramani Mahama, the NDC's Presidential candidate, due to his innovative ideas that promise to transform the arts industry.
She is convinced that Mahama's vision will bring about a transformative change, fostering growth and development in the sector. (More articles: The dilemma of celebrity politician, Why burn seized cannabis openly at Osu beach when Ghana can sell it in legalized markets - Blakk Rasta)
“I have been following a lot of John Mahama's campaign, his posts and everything, I see how passionate he is about our industry. I've heard him talk about how he can't wait for us to enjoy 5G so we can create our content. He has plans for us. I am sure you've seen in the news how he has supported some old actors and all that.
“You can tell that he has some passion for arts and even for the people who paved the way and are not working, he still has them at heart. So I know definitely when he's back in power, he's gonna do something to make it better,” she said.
Kafui Danku is celebrated for her memorable roles in movies such as "Any Other Monday", "Alvina: Thunder" and "Lightning", "I Do", and "4Play".
Moreover, she has showcased her writing prowess as the author of the book, Silence Is Not Golden.
