The ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] unveiled Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as “NAPO,” as the running mate to their flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 general elections at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi.
One of the moments that characterized the unveiling ceremony of the Energy Minister on Tuesday, July was the performance of celebrated Ghanaian rapper Guru.
Immediately Guru hopped onto the stage, there were wild jubilations from the tumultuous crowd including Dr Bawumia and NAPO.
Known in real life as Maradona Adjei, Guru, who performed not more than 15 minutes mesmerised patrons with a rendition of his monster hits songs including ‘Obonsam Nim, ’Samba’ and Lapaz Toyota.
The peak of his performance was when he performed ‘Lapaz Toyota’.As he performed, the excitement of the crowd peaked when he sang the memorable line, “Odo me de car no be ma wo.”
This is the second time GhanaWeekend has seen the NKZ President mount the stage of the ruling government this year to perform.
The first time was when he performed at Bawumia’s Youth Connect Series rally as part of the Vice President’s tour to the Ashanti Region in June.
Meanwhile, Guru has revealed his intentions to contest in the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council elections.
