As Hannah Waddingham’s character remarks in the trailer for The Fall Guy, a stuntman’s job is for no one to notice them. Unfortunately for the stuntman Ryan Gosling plays in the film, he starts getting noticed in all the wrong ways.
The first trailer for The Fall Guy follows Gosling showing up to set to work for a filmmaker, a former flame played by Emily Blunt. Things go wrong when the star of that film (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) goes missing, jeopardizing the film. In order to win back Blunt’s character, Gosling’s stuntman goes on a journey to rescue the missing action star he is doubling for.
The film is inspired by the 1980s TV series of the same name and is directed by David Leitch, the filmmaker (and former stuntman) behind Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Veteran genre scribe Drew Pearce penned the script for the film, which also stars Winston Duke and Stephanie Hsu. Leitch produced alongside his 87North partner Kelly McCormick. Gosling also produced along with Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady.
Gosling, Blunt and Leitch appeared onstage at CinemaCon in April to show off the first footage.
Said Gosling: “In most films, the actors get all the credit, but the stunt performers do all the work, and that ends today.”
