IN celebration of his music and contributions to Ghanaian Reggae music, comedian cum musician, David Oscar is ready to host his annual Reggae Spot festival at Havilah Restaurant, Koforidua, on Saturday, November 11.
The festival will see patrons enjoy live performances by the musician and other surprise artistes.
Known for his soulful voice and catchy melodies, David Oscar has mostly courted controversy with lyrics of his songs which tackle socio-economic issues.
Even though he has been praised for using his music to further his social activism, the graduate of University of Ghana, Legon has not been spared of criticisms, particularly from people who don’t share in his ideas.
In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, he mentioned that even though he started comedy before music, the latter has always been a part of him and he is happy for the progress.
“I started comedy but I realised that music has always been part of me and I don’t regret making that detour.
“Reggae Spot festival has been very dear to me since it gives me the chance to celebrate my music talent with my fans,” he stated.
Apart from music and dancing, there will also be loads of food and drinks, David said.
After releasing many songs including Bad Mind, Nyame Wo Mu among others, David gave a good shot at his music talent when he released Livity.
Livity features upcoming artiste, Boi Manuel from Koforidua. The song is off his Cosmical Vibrations album.
The visuals of the song was shot by Michael Aboya, a 24-year-old self-taught Ghanaian photographer and winner of 2019 Agora World Photography competition.
David Oscar encourages established musicians to support young creatives.
“The Ghanaian music industry is not well structured and that is why it’s important for the well-grounded artistes to support the young ones to find their feet,” he stated.
