Taylor Swift’s tenth studio album Midnights dropped in October and there’s all kinds of hubbub around it. This marked Taylor’s first release of brand new material in two years, so ya know, Swifties gotta Swift.
Taylor stayed pretty hush-hush about her new album, but after it dropped, everyone promptly lost their minds. Taylor legit just became the first artist to claim the Billboard Top 100's entire top 10 songs in a single frame, per Billboard. Every single one of the songs is from Midnights. And she’s been busy over the past few years, too, what with receiving an honorary doctorate from NYU, writing new music, and maintaining her under-the-radar romance with Joe Alwyn.
Despite not touring for a while, Taylor seems to be doing just fine in the finance department. But after so many years of so. much. success. everyone is curious about this pop star's net worth. Hint: It’s really quite large. Here are all the different wants Tay has made her millions:
She had a comfortable childhood.
Taylor didn't start out with nothing. In fact, she had a pretty good leg up thanks to her family. Her dad worked for Merrill Lynch and she grew up in a nice house in Pennsylvania before her family relocated to Nashville to help her pursue her music career.
Yup, Taylor broke onto the music scene in 2006 with“Tim McGraw,” and she didn’t waste any time churning out hit after hit over the ensuing 16 years. In fact, Taylor’s had a record-making eight albums release at No.1 on the charts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, those include:
Midnights actually marked the "biggest week for any [album] release in seven years," Billboard reported, and she now holds the record for the most top 10s for female artists in the chart’s history.
Taylor’s reputation tour sold out (of course) and she earned $191.1 million during the U.S. leg, according to the Grammy website. With that, she broke her own record of being the woman with the highest-grossing U.S. tour. Overall, the tour raked in $345 million, according to Billboard.
Taylor created a documentary for Netflix during her Reputation tour that reportedly made her millions (the exact amount wasn’t disclosed, though). She also released the documentary Miss Americana in 2020 and one for folklore in 2020 called Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.
Last year, Taylor released All Too Well: The Short Film, which was a short film adaptation of her single “All Too Well.”
Taylor has appeared (or voiced a character) in several movies: Amsterdam, Cats, The Giver, The Lorax, and Valentine's Day, to name a few. Her salaries for these roles has not been disclosed, but I'd imagine they were pretty hefty.
While the rest of the world was dealing with the dumpster fire that was 2020 and Zoom fatigue, Taylor got to work on some new music, pulling out all the creative stops to rocket her net worth even higher. She netted $23.8 million from sales generated from the two albums, folklore and evermore, that she dropped that year, per Billboard. And she wasn't even on tour!
Taylor has put her name on plenty of big brands. Those include:
And it's worth $40 million and has the number "13" painted on the side, per Insider. Dang, girl.
Taylor’s got plenty of places she can call home, but she famously spends quite a good deal of time in Manhattan. She's literally got songs that reference the city like"Cornelia Street,""Welcome to New York,"etc. As of 2020, Taylor owned seven different properties in four states, according to Business Insider, and her whole portfolio included real estate in:
In 2018, Taylor sold her Beverly Hills cottage for $4 million and her other Beverly Hills home for $2.65 million. She does still have a huge 1934 mansion in the area that is worth around $30 million, per Business Insider.
Taylor’s total net worth is around $400 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, which means she outpaces Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, and Adele. Madonna and Beyoncé have still got her, though.
