Transport yourself back to the early aughts, for just a moment. Imagine your local newsstand filled with tabloids. You might recall that, at one time, a good chunk of them featured headlines speculating (incorrectly) that Jennifer Aniston was pregnant. Despite intense public pressure, the Friends star kept her fertility and IVF journey under wraps for years. Now, at 53, she’s opening up about the trying period in her life, saying she has nothing to hide.
“I would say my late 30s, 40s, I’d gone through really hard sh*t, and if it wasn’t for going through that, I would’ve never become who I was meant to be,” she said in a new interview with Allure. “I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road.”
She added that she exhausted all of her options to become a mom. And on top of the media constantly analyzing her for a “baby bump,” critics called her selfish for not having kids and focusing on her career.
