GHANAIAN Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy and Nigeria's Burna Boy have been announced as headliners for this year's Afrochella Festival.
This announcement was made yesterday by organisers of the event, Culture Management Group (CMG).
Afrochella Festival comes off at the El Wak Stadium, Accra, Ghana, on December 28 and 29.
In addition to Stonebwoy and Burna Boy, the two-day festival will also feature Afrobeat superstars such as Medikal, Ayra Starr, KiDi, Fireboy and DJ Juls as well as highlights over 50 vendors including 15 fashion, beauty and arts merchants.
This year’s festival will also host 35 food vendors with cuisines from across the continent, as well as introduce patrons to 'Afrocanteen,' an exclusive culinary affair like none other.
According to the COO & Co-Founder of Afrochella, Kenny Agyapong Jr, this year’s festival will be held on the theme “AfroFuturism,” a term coined to celebrate the past and present of the African diaspora, as well as provide an optimistic outlook on the future of the next generation.
"We will bring 'Afrofuturism' to life through our core elements of music, art, fashion and food. We will explore the endless possibilities of what 'Afrofuturism' could look like in 2022 and beyond.”
He added that “as one of the most celebrated cultural moments in Ghana, this year, we have the exciting challenge of bringing 20,000 travelers to the country. We plan to not only achieve this goal but to make Ghana the premier destination for all travelers around the world.”
Afrochella which started in 2017 aims among others to showcase and elevate the exciting and burgeoning millennial talent from and inside Africa.
The festival offers a joyous celebration of Ghanaian culture through live painting, art and fashion installations, the best of African cuisine, and live entertainment.
