Zac Efron expressed his interest in filming a fourth movie in the High School Musical series during an interview with E! News that was released on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old performer noted that he would be more than happy to return to the Disney Channel series, in which he starred for several installments.
A message that was added in the post's caption read: 'Time to start brainstorming the plot for HSM 4.'
When Efron was asked if he would be interested in returning to the franchise, he noted that he would be happy to reunite with his castmates.
'Of course. Seriously, having the opportunity in any form to go back and work with that team would be so amazing,' he said.
The Firestarter actor expressed that he would jump at the chance to revive the hit franchise.
'Yeah, my heart's still there so that would be incredible, I hope it happens,' he said.
Several of the franchise's fans responded positively to the idea of a potential fourth film in the series in the video's comments section.
The first High School Musical film premiered in 2006, and took inspiration from Romeo and Juliet.
The movie was centered on a basketball captain and and shy math student forming a close bond after signing up to appear in their high school's musical.
