Jennifer Beals as a Twi'lek

Disney+ turns two on Friday, and the popular streaming service is celebrating its birthday with a load of new content and announcements. But you can get the celebration started a bit early if you sign up (or re-sign up) for Disney+ this week, thanks to a limited time deal that makes your first month only $2!
New and returning subscribers will get a $6 discount from the usual monthly cost of $8, and you can cancel at any time once the price goes back up. But you shouldn’t, because Disney+ is a great deal all year round, thanks to its bounty of content.
Did you get to check out this thrilling adventure in theaters? Never fear, because it arrives on Disney+ this Friday, no extra fees required. This is the story of two millennial slackers who end up embroiled in the struggle to save a magical hidden land. And there’s lots of great kung fu, too. Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will also appreciate some of the hat tips to the larger story being told, but it’s still newcomer friendly.
Luca
This Pixar film went straight to Disney+ earlier this year, and I recommend watching it on the biggest screen possible — it’s a beautiful film that would have looked amazing in a movie theater. A great one for little kids (no violence), it's the kind of movie all ages will love — a cute story of friendship, acceptance and the pursuit of a certain iconic Italian scooter. This week will also see the debut of a new short cartoon starring Luca’s friend Alberto, which highlights his adventures after the movie.
Bluey
This charming Australian cartoon was one of the breakout hits of last year, showcasing the adventures of the Heeler Family, a family of… blue heeler dogs. Bluey and her little sister Bingo have quite the imaginations, and they often drag their parents, Bandit and Chilli, along for the ride. Even parents and grandparents will appreciate the family’s adventures, which are charming and rarely ever preachy. Childhood is a magical time, and Bluey is all about celebrating that wonder.
Soul
This emotional film picked up two Oscars earlier this year, for Best Animated Feature and Best Score. Because it’s just that good. Soul is the story of Joe Gardner, a music teacher in New York City who wishes his life could have been something more. When Joe finally gets his chance at stardom, he also falls into a manhole and finds himself in the Great Beyond, teaming up with a soul who has yet to find her own purpose. It’s a super-sweet meditation on the meaning of life, with some truly bopping music.
The Mandalorian
Star Wars fans are super hyped for the premiere of The Book of Boba Fett in December. Why not discover what all the fuss is about by checking out its sibling show The Mandalorian? It’s basically a western in space, albeit one with a Force-enabled, always snacking baby alien at its heart. There’s plenty of action and humor, and casual fans don’t have to worry about knowing a ton of Star Wars lore to keep up, making this a great entry point to the franchise.
