A Nigerian film about abducted sisters is due to have its European premiere at the British Film Institute in London on Saturday.
The film's director, Desmond Ovbiagele, told BBC's Newsday insecurity had become a problem in the African continent and it was important to tell the story of the victims.
Ovbiagele's film also showcases the beauty of Nigeria which he says "left to themselves these are people who live in beautiful parts of the country... their lives are severely disrupted by these acts of terrorism".
The Milkmaid, which is in Hausa, tells the story of two sisters who are abducted from their village by Islamist militants in a deadly attack.
This encounter forever alters their path, destroying their relationships and forcing them to fight for their lives and their freedom.
The film is an exploration of the human cost of extremism sweeping across Africa.
