A lot of industry players have spoken out about the Ghanaian music industry’s prospects since the 63rd Grammy Awards came off and Nigerian artistes Burna Boy and Wizkid lifted their country’s flag high with their wins.
The discussions have been varied and the latest to join in with his point of view is producer and musician Jae 5 who believes talent alone is not enough for Ghanaian artistes to win Grammys.
According to him, the likes of Stonebwoy, M.anifest, KiDi, Wiyaala, Kuami Eugene are talented but that alone won’t win us international awards.
“What are the Nigerians or other Africa countries doing right that we are not doing? First of all, we need to write compelling songs that are likely to win us Grammys.
“Aside that, we should have reps in other countries pushing our songs globally. It is unfortunate most GH musicians do don’t have reps outside Ghana doing that for them. Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido have reps in most countries pushing their works for them,” Jae 5 said.
Jae 5 added that Ghanaian artistes need more international collaborations and should mount big stages to put themselves out there.
“Currently there are just a handful of GH artistes doing internal collaborations but the Nigerians and other African musicians are all over the place doing serious collaborations.
“We need to jump on big platforms and register our names out there and with that winning a Grammy award will be easy for us,” he added.
Away from that Jae 5 is currently promoting his new single Dimension, which talks about forgiveness of sins..
