Amy Schumer’s wedding came as a surprise to the world — and it sounds like it came as a surprise to her, too.
The comedian, who married Chris Fischer, planned the whole thing in just days, according to her stylist Leesa Evans. Schumer reached out via text four days prior for help in finding a wedding gown.
“Amy said, ‘Text me when you wake up, Chris and I want to get married,’” Evans told People magazine. “And then I called her when I woke up and she was like, ‘Let’s try on dresses today.’ It was literally that of spur of the moment.”
The Monique Lhuillier gown Schumer selected was the first and only one that Schumer, who has only been dating the chef for a few months, tried on. “[It] felt right,” said Evans. “So we both kind of looked at each other and giggled and said, ‘Well, let’s just go with it. Why try any more?’ and that’s what we did.”
The stylist added that Schumer wore flats to the Malibu, Calif., wedding, which was attended by Jennifer Lawrence — wearing the same color as the bridesmaids — and stars including Larry David, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jennifer Aniston, and David Spade. (How they were all free on a Tuesday is anyone’s guess!)
Evans noted that the star’s new wedding ring “is really the first piece of jewelry she will have worn for years and years,” as she prefers not to wear gems.
“I think her and Chris really feel so happy to have found each other and are so deeply in love that however it was going to come together was going to be perfect because the idea and the sentiment behind it was just pure love,” Evans told the magazine.
Schumer’s wedding was big news as it hit on Thursday. The Tuesday nups were just two days after they made their social media debut, smooching in a shot from Ellen DeGeneres’s 60th birthday bash.
The rushed nature of it all had the comedian herself denying that she’s pregnant.
Not that she would necessarily tell us if she was…
