Madam Janet Jambia, West Gonja District Chief Executive (DCE) has urged Rural Banks to make their borrowing procedures and terms less technical and cumbersome for rural communities.
Mrs Jambia said this at the inauguration of the Buuwulonso Rural Bank Limited at Damongo in the West Gonja District on Tuesday.
She said rural banking had become one of the innovative ways of revenue mobilisation and urged management of the Bank to put the provision of basic needs such as health, water and sanitation facilities at the core of its social services to the people.
The DCE also urged Rural Banks to complement government efforts at providing affordable houses, by granting housing loans to workers in their operational areas.
Dr Abu Sakara, Board Chairman of the new bank said a little over GHc100,000 was invested in it as seed money and that branches would be opened at Daboya, Buipe and Mankarigu, all in the West Gonja District.
Yabongwura Bawa Doshie, King of Gonjaland, who performed the formal opening, asked the people to patronise its services.
