The Minerals Commission has refuted claims by the Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi, Yusif Sulemana, suggesting the Commission and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources granted mining concessions to foreigners without proper consultations.
The Commission asserts that all mineral rights are granted following extensive consultations in accordance with the Minerals and Mining Act and that only four large-scale mining companies hold concessions in the said constituency, two of which are wholly Ghanaian-owned.
The Commission emphasised that these licences are for exploration, not mining, and reiterated its commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement.
