GCB Bank PLC, Ghana’s leading indigenous Bank as part of its 70th Anniversary celebration held a gala and awards night at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. The event had in attendance the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo and his wife Rebecca Akuffo Addo, John Kofi Adomakoh, Managing Director of the bank, government officials and other distinguished personalities.
The Managing Director in his welcome address, stated that the bank has provided 70 years of unrivalled solutions towards the socio-economic development of Ghana. The dynamic and successful indigenous institution has played a leading role in developing Ghana's economy which usually goes unnoticed. The Bank has contributed immensely to helping private and public institutions achieve their goals and individuals achieve financial well-being.
Mr. John Kofi Adomakoh again stated that GCB Bank is seeking to show more of resilience in its ability to grow African champions in the country by supporting Ghanaian businesses to explore beyond the shores of Ghana. A Bank serving the remotest villages in Saboba and Nkwanta and also in the big cities of Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, is preserving livelihoods and micro businesses through technology and connecting them with other counterparts in Lagos, Johannesburg, Nairobi, and in Cairo. We must take advantage of the AfCFTA and ensure that through GCB, we do not miss out as a country on this 1.5 billion single market. GCB must once again transcend the borders of Ghana and follow the brain prints of its customers into regional and continental markets serving corporate and commercial clients. The bank will further deepen Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG), Risk and Compliance and its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda continues to lead the Ghanaian Banking industry.
Former board chairpersons were awarded for their meritorious service and contribution to the bank. Some customers and shareholders were also awarded for their dedication and loyalty to the bank.
