The National President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), Dr Daniel Kasser Tee, has urged businesses to rely on their marketing teams to ensure their survival and subsequent business growth.
According to him, the business landscape today remained dynamic with uncertainties and high competitive pressures from local and international sources in almost all industries.
“Businesses continue to face numerous challenges from rapidly advancing technologies to ever-changing consumer behaviours that translate into customer needs and harsh external environmental factors in the past years,” he said.
Dr Kasser Tee made this known at the launch of the 34th CIMG annual National Marketing Performance Awards held in Accra yesterday.
This year’s event would be held under the theme “Marketing: A Tool for Economic Recovery”.
Dr Kasser Tee, who launched the event said the annual awards ceremony was held to among others to create awareness about the relevance of marketing for the success of businesses.
He added that, it was to also promote higher professional marketing standards, excellence among practitioners and to recognise organisations for their outstanding performance.
Dr Kasser Tee noted that, marketing was an evolving business discipline that played a vital role in monitoring the business environment and devising strategies in response to all shifting dynamics.
“It has the power to promote brands, connect businesses with their customers and ultimately drive business growth and ensure economic prosperity for nations, which encompasses the growth, security and competitiveness of economies,” he stated.
He said it was important to honour and celebrate individuals and businesses that have excelled in the challenging environment by recognising their effort with the aim of encouraging innovation, creativity and ethical practices in marketing.
The Vice President of CIMG, Mr Theodore Osae, in his remarks said CIMG awards had evolved over the years into what could be considered as Ghana’s benchmark awards scheme.
“Being mindful of these achievements, the Institute has resolved to keep the stakes as high and as relevant as possible so that the standards by which we assess individual and corporate performances are not compromised. We are committed to keeping the awards processes simple, transparent, and fair,” he said.
He highlighted that some of the partners and organisations that would help in the nomination process include, Maverick Research, Media Monitoring Services, Association of Ghana Industries, Advertising Association of Ghana, Ghana Standards Authority, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Tourism Federation among others.
