Ghana's largest market share holder in the telecommunications industry, MTN Ghana, a Multinational Telecommunications Company has partnered with Tecno Mobile to launch its latest flagship phone, the Tecno Camon 20 series. The event was held at the Kempinsky GoldCoast Hotel in Accra.
Mr Guido Sopiimeh, Senior Manager for Commercial Planning and Analytics at MTN Ghana, noted at the launch that the company's mission was to drive the digital agenda and bring connectivity to the whole of Africa.
He said that internet penetration levels in Ghana were not as expected due to the changing nature of technology necessitating partnerships with original smartphone manufacturers such as Tecno Mobile. This, he said, was part of MTN's Vision 2025 strategy to lead digital solutions in Africa. He also added that the partnership was rooted in their belief that everyone deserved the benefits of a modern connected life.
"The main barrier to this is affordability, that is why we will enter into such partnerships to provide variety at affordable costs to our people" Mr Sopiimeh added.
The partnership would offer free 2GB (Gigabyte) of MTN Data to users of the Camon 20 device for the first six (6) months to enable customers to enjoy its innovative features.
"We want our customers to enjoy value for money through data bundles".
He said that Ghana's youthful population presented an oppourtunity to increase smartphone usage and penetration adding that partnership with Tecno Mobile would allow them to churn out innovative products and services for existing and potential customers, he added.
Mr. Sopiimeh disclosed that MTN was investing heavily in cyber security measures to ensure safety, and security and promote parental control concerning the use of technology.
Mr. Maxwell Takyi, the Managing Director for Mobile Zone called for the need to address individualism in Africa by embracing business development strategists, the media, and the government to work on solutions that would promote partnerships. He said that Mobile Zone had empowered distributors, retailers and more over the years, resulting in the establishment of the Mobile Phone Dealers Association. Mr. Takyi urged further research into new products and customer satisfaction and encouraged Ghanaians to patronize the Camon 20 when it was released onto the market.
Dancehall artiste and brand Ambassador for Tecno Ghana, Stonebwoy said that he was extremely honoured to be part of this giant step in design and innovation by Tecno.
Mr Solomon Amoako, Tecno Mobile's Kumasi Branch Manager took attendees through the product features. He said that the new device was designed for smartphone users who paid attention to brand design and loved fashionable designs as well as users who loved adventures and were keen on bold fashion that showcased their personalities.
Tecno's latest CAMON 20 series comes with an innovative Magic Skin technology, Steady Night Portrait Video feature (video stability), 50MP (Mega Pixel) light chaser ultra-sensing (RGBW) sensor + 7 lens crystal clear camera module, and a Professional wide-angle camera: 108MP wide-angle and macro camera, the highest-definition in the industry. It also offers dual portrait photos that is, using both front and back cameras at the same time, and will run on Android 13, HIOS 13 operating system.
