Ecobank Ghana PLC, as part of its efforts to bring banking to the doorsteps of the citizenry has opened a new agency at Manya Jorpanya in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region.
The facility named the “Royal Empire Ecobank Xpress Point services” brings to over 6000 the number of such branches established nationwide to reach the unbanked in every part of the country.
It is expected to offer financial services including cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque clearance, cash in and remittance services, interbank transfers, Pops-services and Visa Card cash withdrawals.
The Head, Agency Banking, Ecobank, Gary Amarh, speaking at the ceremony said the bank had moved to the area to serve the growing number of businesses.
Mr Amarh stated that the bank also saw it as an opportunity to promote financial inclusion hence the need to set up the Ecobank XpressPoint in the vicinity.
“This agency is closer to the people, because it is not only a bank branch but also a unique point where several products and services would be provided and linked to the over 6,000 Ecobank Xpress Points across the country to satisfy customer needs,” he said.
He said a dedicated bank teller would be situated in the premises to provide other services such as receiving of bulk cash and cheques from signed on companies.
Mr Amarh thanked the chief of the area Dr Nene Tei Djahene Korabo IV for releasing the land for the construction of the agency.
