The authority was adjudged “Responsible Government Regulator of the year 2021” while the CEO, Ms Bismarck was honored for her outstanding contribution to the development of the shipping Industry.

The GSA was honored for its trade facilitation activities such as seminars held on Uncleared Cargo List (UCL) and its effects on the state’s coffers; nationwide education and sensitisation campaigns on the promotion of local marine insurance, avoidance of demurrage and rent payments at the ports.

It also included removal of non-tariff barriers through regular engagement with stakeholders; nationwide exporters’ fora to build the capacity of exporters; seminars for transit truck drivers; regular engagement with shipping service providers to resolve challenges in cargo handling at the ports.

The objective of the awards scheme is to champion the implementation of sound business governance and systems, and also prevent practices which hinder social development.

Some of the other categories for the awards were the Responsible CEO of the Year, Responsible Trade & Investment Leader of the Year, Responsible CSR and Community Development Impact Award, Responsible Brand of the Year, Responsible Business and Leadership Company of the Year and Industry Personality of the Year.
