Opanyin Maame Akua Benyah, the President of the Dansoman Methodist Circuit Women's Fellowship of Mt Olivet has called on the government to provide and sustain the stimulus support to women to enable them to recover from the Covid-19 effect.

She said the negative effect of the Covid-19 lockdown destroyed most micro and small businesses owned by women and as such, they needed to be supported with soft-loans as was the case around the world.

Maame Benyah, who was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said: "Though some businesses were picking up the pieces, women needed greater support with soft-loans so that we can stand on our feet."

"Most women play supportive roles in their families whilst others are the backbone of their families who continue to suffer economic and other ill-effects of the pandemic," she said.

Deaconess Rosena Yeboah Awuah of the Church of Pentecost, Russia Worship Centre said women play complementary functions in families and they needed to be assisted to manage the home.

She advised women to constantly engage in activities to support their spouses economically to make the home peaceful.
