Aberdeen based production optimisation specialist, Enpro Subsea has rounded off 2019 with the granting of supplementary patents which underpin and expand its already robust technology portfolio and further strengthens its offering to the global subsea market.
The record year has seen adoption of its unique Flow Access Module (FAM) technology increase to over 65 units globally, with continued awards from Gulf of Mexico and West Africa. The Aberdeen headquartered firm's FAM technology enables production enhancement solutions to be installed on standard subsea hardware via a proprietary Flow Access Hub mounted within the well jumper or flowline envelope. The FAM is a retrievable package which can integrate various production optimization technologies, delivering functionality such as flow measurement, flow assurance, data acquisition and intervention access
Ian Donald, CEO said: "In the past year, Enpro has benefited from operators witnessing the early adopters of FAM successfully delivering fast paced tiebacks and wanting to follow similar strategies. The FAM technology fully aligns with the industry drivers for fast track, low cost subsea field development while enabling the technologies required to maximize ultimate recovery from the well. FAM achieves this via our patented FAM Flow Access Hub which acts as a 'USB port' within the well jumper envelope, enabling the operator to use standard subsea trees and manifolds with FAM providing life of field flexibility within the system design."
The company also expanded their Flow Intervention Services (FIS) offering with the next second generation 15,000psi Hydraulic Intervention System in 2019. This modular system enables safe delivery of fluid and acid treatments into subsea wells and pipelines from a range of vessel types.
The new higher rated system is an evolution of Enpro Subsea's earlier 10,000psi FIS system which has completed 19 subsea intervention operations to date, including scale squeeze and acid stimulation, for multiple clients and from various vessels in West Africa. In further developments the company entered into an MoU with leading twin-screw pump manufacturer Can-K to develop FAM enabled subsea multiphase boosting solutions.
To support this growth internationally, the company broadened its international presence in 2019 by establishing Enpro Subsea Inc. in Houston and Enpro Subsea Ghana Limited, in Accra, Ghana.
Mr Donald added: "2019 has been a milestone year for Enpro with continued adoption of our products in all major subsea regions. This ongoing growth is underpinned by the maturity of our patent portfolio, specifically with regards to our unique Flow Access Module (FAM) technologies, where our already robust portfolio has been further strengthened with additional patent awards in the US, UK and Europe. For the team, it's an endorsement of all our hard work over the past decade and a great foundation to go forward into 2020."
