GCB once again has cemented its place as a bank that supports education and youth development.
GCB’s support of the “Moneyzone” at the just ended National Science and Maths Quiz competition in Accra has many describing it as rewarding and fulfilling.
Most students were beside themselves with regret as they couldn’t progress to the quarter finals stage to have a bite of the GCB “Moneyzone” cake.
Beneficiaries of the “Moneyzone” segment were excited and said; they didn’t walk home empty handed after all and others saying they would put in more work to gain more points thereby enjoying more money.
2019 winners St. Augustine’s College “Augusco” walked home with a whopping amount of GH¢4,450.00 starting from quarter, semi and finals of the competition.
“Augusco” won the contest with 39 points beating their contenders, St Peter's SHS (PERSCO), with 25 points and Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon recording 34 points.
It was a fierce battle between PRESEC and AUGUSCO during the contest in the fourth and final round.
The school was fired up to add a second to the trophy they last won in 2007. They flaunted their strength over the two challengers and finished the contest.
The methodology of The Money Zone is to convert a school’s final score to cash which will be provided by GCB. The format for The Money Zone is as follows:
· At the Quarter-final stage, final scores for each school would be multiplied by GHS 5
· At the Semi-final stage, final scores for each school would be multiplied by GHS 10
· At the Grand Finale, final scores for each school would be multiplied by GHS 15
The National Science and Maths Quiz has become a remarkable event competition that seeks to bring together senior high school students to compete and win the bragging right of the best school in Ghana.
Is also an avenue for Alumni of the various schools to support their school amidst enjoying nostalgic times.
GCB Bank has over the years been a part of the National Science and Maths Quiz with the aim of promoting education in general, which is cardinal to the Bank’s corporate social responsibility drive.
