The Nation Builders Corp (NaBCo) has recruited 354 trainees in the Dormaa Central Municipality of Bono Region to engage in various modules of employment.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dormaa- Ahenkro, Mr. Ernest Yeboah, the Municipal Coordinator of NaBCo said the applicants were engaged in November 2018 but 27 of them had since secured permanent employment with other agencies and therefore left the programme.
He said 219 out of the 354 were males and 108 females engaged in various services in government agencies and departments including; the Municipal Assembly, health facilities, agriculture directorate and Education Service.
Mr. Yeboah described the number of trainees recruited as "encouraging" and dismissed claims that recruitment were done on the basis of political party affiliation as baseless since "registration is not done upon inspection of party membership card.
"The registration is done online and there's no inputs, space or detail provided on the computer that accepts someone's political inclination. Selection of trainees is done from national headquarters and posted down to us here. We don't deal directly with trainees down here," he explained.
Mr. Yeboah said the hue and cry generated around the non-payment of some trainee's allowance recently was "mischievous and an attempt by those trainees to make the government unpopular.
"Most of those people had registered with other agencies and wanted to be hooked unto the NaBCo simultaneously with the e-Zwich card", he revealed and appealed to trainees in the Municipality to work hard to justify their recruitment.
