AngloGold Ashanti met its targets for the sixth consecutive year, with improved margins driving significant growth in free cash flow generation. The Company declared a dividend of approximately 7 US cents per share for the 2018 year.
Manufacturing stocks closed flat at the session as investors largely focused on banking and telecommunication stocks. Consequently, the SAS Manufacturing Index closed at 4,647.26 with a -0.13% YTD return.
Financial counters however closed lower as uncertainty over 2018 earnings results led to a decline in Cal Bank Limited (-5.49%) and GCB Bank Limited (-0.24%) shares. The GSE-FI moderated by 6.48 points (-0.31%) to close at 2,117.10 with a -1.70% year-to-date return.
Activity was also seen in MTN Ghana Limited (-1.35%) and Ghana Oil Company Limited (-0.34%). Total value traded jumped from 164,927 shares to 356,719 shares today while total value traded declined from GH¢1,999,098 to GH¢200,292.17. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) dominated trades by volume, accounting for 42.61% of total volume traded while Cal Bank Limited (CAL) accounted for 53.48% of total value traded.
We expect trading activity to increase ahead of 2018 full year earnings results.
