The Chairman of Afro-Arab Group of Companies, Alhaji Abdul Salamu Amadu has won the Youth Empowerment and Community Development award at the Karifest Awards held at the Sheraton Awards in Abuja, Nigeria on December 20.
According to the organisers, Alhaji Amadu Salamu popularly known as Alhaji Dubai was rewarded for his philanthropic gestures within the Zongo communities in Ghana as well as his support for the youth over the year 2018.
The Karifest Award was established in 2013 to honour outstanding Africans from various spheres of life, and according to the organizers, Karifest Group, it is an annual award which recognizes, inspires, rewards hardwork and celebrates exceptionally talented youth, seasoned professionals and advocates of positive change.
It will be recalled that Alhaji Amadu was named among the 100 most influential persons in West Africa by the Confederation of West African Youth.
He was also named among the Top 50 Young CEOs in Ghana by YCEO in partnership with Avance Media and won the Sports Personality of the Year award at this year’s Forty Under 40 Awards.
Alhaji Dubai is also as a patron of the Annual Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup and has been supporting the competition since its inception in 2015.
Alhaji Dubai is a major financier of football development at the grassroots level as he now owns a second division club in Accra, which has offered many young players the platform to realize their potentials.
He is also currently constructing an astroturf stadium in Kokomlemle to provide a decent sports infrastructure for residents.
