Insyt provides a web mobile-based platform and deployment service for the collection of field data using tablet or any smartphone device. Dr Daniel Asare Kyei, Chief Executive Officer of Esoko, speaking at the launch, said the goal of the Insyt technology was to kill paper records and move to digital records to provide business with quality data for analyses.

“Insyt technology is meant to transform the way businesses collect data, manage their field agents and offer beneficiaries access to value added service.  “Insyt will help us leave paper records and move to digital records, especially when the use of paper is not sustainable in the face of climate change.

“The technology also supports government efforts of digitising the economy and it will help business to be much more efficient, as it is more profitable and delivers better services to customers,” Dr Asare Kyei noted.

He said the technology has been tried and tested and had also gone through all the necessary quality control test process and found to be efficient for the field market work. “In Ghana we have used this technology in various important programmes,” he said.

He said the technology was used in the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme to proffer about 3.7 million people across the country. “Again it was used in the Ghana National Household Registry to create a register for all households across the country.

“The Esoko team is happy to come up with this application to aid businesses no matter how big or small to manage data properly.”  “There are several tools available for data collection but this one is unique because we have taken cognisance of the fact that this is built for Ghana and other developing countries.”

Dr Kyei said businesses and individuals could access the Insyt mobile application form on the Esoko website to improve on the quality of data. Mr Vincent Odotei Sowah, Deputy Minister of Communication said the ministry was happy with Esoko’s innovation.

He said this was in line with the government’s agenda of making the country an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) hub in the West African sub-region.  Mr Sowah, whose speech was read on his behalf said: “As a ministry, we are committed in driving the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the ICT Telecom Centre, which is the digital agenda to position the country as a regional ICT hub.

“The government intends to focus on helping the citizens to embrace the use of ICT in all sectors, especially in the acquisition of knowledge,” he said.  He commended Esoko for the good work it was doing in the rural communities through their digital transformation and financial inclusion programmes, adding that; “bringing innovative ICT programmes to the door steps of the Ghanaian in the rural areas is worth applauding”.

He said the traditional forms of data collection are tedious and costly, susceptible to damage and loss through fire and water, among other negative effects, and urged businesses to join in the digital agenda by adapting and making use of available technologies.
