The Ashiaman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Fujian Chamber of Commerce of China to invest about 50 million US Dollars into developmental projects in the Municipality.
Mr Albert Boakye Okyere, Ashiaman Municipal Chief Executive, and Mr Wu Weixin, Chairman of Foshan Chamber of Commerce, signed on behalf of ASHMA and the Chamber respectively at Guangzhou Province in China
Mr. Charles Dwamena, Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to China, signed as a witness to the MOU.
Mr Okyere speaking to the Ghana News Agency said the MOU which was signed under Public Private Partnership, would help create jobs for the large number of unemployed youth in the area.
He added that the Chinese counterparts were expected to pay a return visit on July 16 for the finalization of the arrangements between the two parties. He said commencement of developmental projects such as construction of an international truck terminal, affordable housing, markets among others would take off after the finalization of the arrangements as the Assembly would receive some funding to carry out such projects.
He added that automobile structures would also be constructed to build the capacity of the many mechanics operating in the area as well as provide jobs for others. The MCE thanked the TDC Development Company Limited for releasing acres of land along the Tema motorway stretch to the Assembly to undertake its developmental projects.
