Huawei announced that its revenues rose 15 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2017 to CNY 283.1 billion, a notable slowdown from the over 30 percent revenue growth in 2016. The company's operating margin was 11 percent, recovering from a fall to 9.1 percent last year.
Huawei said it grew across all three of its business groups in the first half of 2017. The company expects to "maintain its current momentum, and round out the year in a positive financial position".
The Consumer Business Group maintained its strong growth, with sales up 36.2 percent to CNY 105.4 billion. Smartphone shipments rose a slower 20.6 percent to 73.01 million, suggesting the company is making progress in breaking into the premium segment of the market, with a higher average selling price.
Huawei said its smartphone sales were growing in a number of markets, including central and Eastern Europe, the Nordic countries, southeast Asia and its home market China. The growth is supported by an expanding retail network, which is set to reach 56,000 stores worldwide by the end of 2017, up by 35,000 from May 2016.
