Mr Hayford Attah Krufi, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority, has said the Authority has transferred an amount of GH¢547,638,012.40 from the Temporary Pension Fund Account (TPFA).
He said this represents contributions of 250,799 private sector workers working under 7,707 employers.
He said the total assets under management for private pensions stood at GH¢7.4 billion with about GH¢2.7 billion in the TPFA.
The pensions industry currently has a total of 131 service providers including trustees, pension fund managers and custodians as well as 243 registered pension schemes.
Mr Krufi said this during the inauguration of the Takoardi Zonal office of the NPRA as part of efforts to deepen awareness and visibility of the Authority as well as help bring pension administration closer to all stakeholders.
He said a number of progressive meetings have been held with stakeholders including trustees of the public sector schemes, their administrators and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to ensure the finalization of due processes for a smooth transfer of funds into their respective custodial banks for continued investment.
Mr Krufi said the NPRA would continue to work hard to safeguard pension funds and in so doing secure good returns on workers contributions.
