Poland will take part in the euro zone stability mechanism but for the time being will not make financial contribution to the mechanism, Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski said on Tuesday
"Each aid package would be examined separately and each decision would take into account Poland's interests," Rostowski told the PAP news agency.
Poland will not join the stability mechanism for the euro zone on a full scale before it adopts the euro. Poland's cooperation with the mechanism will be based on the general principle that it will contribute to Poland's interest, Rostowski said.
Euro zone finance ministers are to adopt new anti-crisis measures by March. The current mechanism, established three years ago, has a pool of 440 billion euros.
In December Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that his country was considering participation in the stabilization mechanism even though it was not an EMU (Economic and Monetary Union) member.
